Prior to now, I had no idea about the illiteracy rate in my country.

Today I found that the illiteracy rate in Nigeria is moderately high with 31% of the adult population being illiterate. Also, as of 2023, 75 percent of children aged seven to 14 years cannot read a simple sentence or solve a basic math problem according to UNICEF.

One way I can help reduce the rate of illiteracy is to help the underprivileged children in my community get back into school. One major factor that leads to illiteracy is poverty. While there are free government education available in my community, many of these children lack the material to be in school. I can help provide writing and learning material to help foster their education.
